The Animal Services Division works diligently to serve the public and animals of San Luis Obispo County in a professional and efficient manner with kindness and compassion. The staff is dedicated to providing education, protection, and the humane treatment of animals in order to insure a safe and healthy community and to promote the benefits of responsible pet ownership.
SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE SHELTER:
- Adoptions
- Lost & found
- Quarantines and protective custody
- Basic health screening and treatment for injured animals
- Humanely euthanize animals we are unable to place
- Issue and track dog licenses License Form
- Maintain accurate records of Animal Services activities
- Provide our community with educational programs related to the humane treatment of animals, public safety, and responsible pet ownership
- Work with volunteer groups for animal welfare
- Investigate complaints and enforce state and local ordinances pertaining to animals
- Inspect facilities and issue permits to kennels, pet shops, animal breeders and other animal use facilities in the county
