Mission Statement
To provide accurate and reliable legal services to the Board of Supervisors, County departments, boards and agencies, and certain special districts in a manner which is cost-effective and promotes excellence in delivery of government services to the public.
Services Provided
Legal Advice: The Office of the County Counsel (1) provides legal advice to the Board of Supervisors and numerous County departments, boards, commissions and agencies in order to enable the carrying out of County programs and policies within the limits of the law; (2) drafts, reviews and approves County agreements, contracts and projects; and (3) provides legal research and advice to County officers on their legal responsibilities.
Litigation: The Office of the County Counsel represents, defends and provides litigation services to the County and its officers involved in complex lawsuits involving tax, personnel, contract and land use matters; and represents the County in addressing the needs of fragile populations in the community.
