Terminal Development team praised for on-time, on-budget, collaborative effort.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport is proud to announce that its terminal development project team has won the John L. Martin Partnered Project of the Year Award from the International Partnering Institute (IPI). The mission of IPI is to transform the construction industry to achieve exceptional results through a culture of collaboration.

Construction projects from several categories competed for distinction through factors such as schedule, budget and value delivered in the project.  The SBP terminal development team won the Partnered Project of the Year Award, Sapphire Level, for projects of regional significance. Partners include general contractor Q&D Construction, design firm RS&H and construction manager Arcadis.

“We offer our heartiest congratulations to the San Luis Obispo Airport team for winning the John L. Martin Partnered Project of the Year Award,” said Rick Mayfield, Executive Director of the International Partnering Institute. “The terminal project embodies all of the values IPI holds dear: on-time and on-budget project delivery, exceptional results and a true spirit of collaboration. The honor is well-earned.”

“It’s wonderful to be recognized for our teamwork,” followed Kevin Bumen, C.M., C.A.E., Director of Airports. “The airport and its partners started with a single goal—to create the best possible terminal for our guests—and our commitment to that goal, and each other, never wavered. For two years, every step was taken together, and the result is a project we are all immensely proud of.”

Construction on the project began in 2015 and the terminal opened in October 2017. At a final cost of $39.5 million, the project came in on time and on budget.
