Additional lane increases efficiency for passengers

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has begun operating a second security lane at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport. This important move comes before the airport sees additional flights and larger planes.

With the new bag screening lane, passengers are able to queue, divest and place their belongings through two different lanes. “The move allows our travelers to get through security faster than ever before,” said Kevin Bumen, CM, CAE, Director of Airports. “TSA is committing additional resources to our airport because they see how we’ve been growing, and continue to grow.”

The new security lane also provides critical equipment redundancies. TSA will staff the second lane with security officers to increase the efficiency of the screening operations during peak travel times. It is still recommended that travelers arrive 90 minutes prior to their flight departure.

The investment comes in the advance of United Airlines beginning a second daily nonstop flight to Denver, and the airline’s use of larger planes on existing routes. The airport anticipates up to 180 additional passengers each day.
