Sexual assault charges filed against Lyft driver Jason Lemont Fenwick (51)

On November 13, 2018, the District Attorney filed felony charges against Jason Lamont Fenwick (DOB 02/12/1967) for a sexual assault alleged to have occurred in the early morning hours of November 4th in Nipomo. Mr. Fenwick is charged with four felonies and one misdemeanor. His next Court appearance is scheduled for November 21, 2018 in Department 8 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.


The District Attorney has filed felony charges against Jason Lamont Fenwick (DOB 02/12/1967) for a sexual assault, alleged to have taken place in Nipomo shortly after 1:30 am on November 4, 2018. 

At the time of the offense, Mr. Fenwick was working as a Lyft driver when he picked up the victim in Arroyo Grande and drove her to her residence in Nipomo.  It is alleged that Mr. Fenwick sexually assaulted the victim while she was unconscious.  Mr. Fenwick has been charged with four felony counts including violating Penal Code sections 220(b) (Assault with the Intent to Commit Various Sex Acts During a Residential Burglary), 288A(i) (Unlawful Oral Copulation of an Intoxicated Individual), 289(e) (Unlawful Sexual Penetration by a Foreign Object of an Intoxicated Individual), 459 (First Degree Residential Burglary) and one misdemeanor violation of Penal Code section 647(j)(2) (Unlawful Use of a Concealed Recording Device).

The investigation is ongoing and no additional information can be released at this time.

Due to the defendant’s occupation as a Lyft driver, it is possible that more individuals may have been victimized.  The District Attorney’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating additional witnesses and possible victims.  Anyone with information that could be helpful in this investigation is strongly encouraged to contact the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 805.781.4500.  For victim services, please contact the District Attorney’s Christopher G. This case is being investigated by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation.  The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Christopher White.
