Swap Meet Food Facility Health Permit

Who can use this service?

This service is available to all businesses wishing to obtain an initial permit or renew a permit for a Swap Meet booth with food service to be operated within San Luis Obispo County.

Is there a charge for this service?

Please refer to our Fee Schedule or contact our office at (805) 781-5544.

What is the process?

Step 1: Submit Swap Meet Application

Download the swap meet health permit application

Please note, swap meet vendors are typically approved to vend either whole, uncut produce, prepackaged nonpotentially hazardous foods, or both. However, temporary food facility operations may be allowed at the discretion of the swap meet organizer and requires a more in depth application process for health permitting.

Step 2: Pay the Health Permit Fee

The permit fee is due with the application.  Please refer to the Environmental Health Permit Fee Schedule for more information.

Step 3: Await Approval From Inspector

It is unlawful for a Swap Meet Food Vending Booth to operate without prior approval from Environmental Health Services.

The health inspector will review your completed application and sign off when approved. The inspector reviewing the application will contact you with any additional information that may be required, revisions needed, or when your application is approved. A Health Permit to Operate will be mailed within 2-4 weeks after receiving inspector approval.
