Tuition Reimbursement

Who can use this service?

Reimbursement is dependent upon bargaining unit and availability of funds. County employees represented by Bargain Units 01, 02, 05, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 13, 17, 31, and 32 are eligible for reimbursement. 

Is there a charge for this service?

This service is provided free of charge.

What is the process?

Step 1: Review Eligibility and Requirements

Tuition Reimbursement is dependent upon bargaining unit and availability of funds. Please read the Employee Tuition Reimbursement Instructions before you attend a course/training or pay tuition/membership fees.

Tuition reimbursement refunds are made to the employee, however, courses paid with grants and/or scholarships do not qualify for reimbursement.

Step 2: Attend and Pay for Course or Training

After reviewing the instructions and determining your course or training is eligible for reimbursement, please sign up, attend, and pay for the course or training. 

Please keep proof of payment and course completion as they will be required for reimbursement:

  • Proof of payment, attached to your employee tuition reimbursement form, is required in order to receive your reimbursement. (Proof of payment can be a: cancelled check, bank statement with copy of check, credit card bill, invoice showing payment, or receipt for cash payment)
  • Proof of completion, attached to your employee tuition reimbursement form, is required to receive your reimbursement.

Step 3: Complete the Reimbursement Form

After successful completing of the course or training, complete the Employee Tuition Reimbursement Form using the instructions and attaching your proof of payment and course completion to the form.

Step 4: Submit the Form

Attach a copy of the course description or training agenda, proof of payment, and certification of course completion to the form and have your department head sign.

Forward the form to HR Benefits via intra-company mail for approval and processing.  Allow four (4) weeks for your claim to be processed.

This service is available throughout the year during regular business hours except during scheduled holidays.
