Avila Beach Drive at Highway 101 Interchange
Reconfiguration of the US 101 and Avila Beach Drive Interchange in the community of Avila.
Goal: To provide traffic congestion relief and accommodate pedestrians and bicycles by reconfiguring the interchange. A Park & Ride will also be a part of this project.
Estimated Construction Cost: Current alternatives range from $4 million to $7 million.

Phase 1 - Project Initiation and Scoping - Complete
The completion of this project initiation phase establishes the project's purpose & need, provides scope approval, and allows for project development to begin. For more information see the PSR-PDS.
Date of Completion: May 2016
Phase 2 - Project Approval and Environmental Document
This phase is estimated to begin October 2017 and to be completed around Spring 2020. The County is currently in the process of hiring a consultant to initiate PA&ED efforts. Funding for this stage consists of approximately $500,000 from Federal funds, $50,000 from State funds, and $400,000 from County Road Improvement Fees.
Estimated Date of Completion: Spring 2020
Phase 3 - Design
The goal of this phase is to finalize the design. Funding is to be determined.
Estimated Date of Completion: Fall 2021
Phase 4 - Construction
If funding is available and previous phases are completed on time, the earliest this project is anticipated to be in construction is in 2022. Funding is to be determined.
