Road Closure on South Higuera Street South of Los Osos Valley Road in SLO

The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works announces road closure of South Higuera Street from the San Luis Obispo city limits to San Luis Creek Bridge from Friday, December 15, 2017 through Friday, December 29, 2017.

Motorists are advised to adjust their travel plans and use alternative routes. Access for bicyclist and pedestrian traffic along South Higuera will be maintained during the closure.

Closure is required for construction of left turn lane at Octagon Barn. The project includes widening the roadway to provide a southbound left-turn lane, drainage improvements, and site improvements to provide parking for the Octagon Barn center.  This project will improve the road for all users, and provide a staging area for the future extension of the Bob Jones City-to-Sea Trail Project. The closure will allow workers to complete the critical, final tasks of the road reconstruction. 

S. Chaves Construction, Inc., of San Luis Obispo has been awarded the contract for $1,753,830 to perform the work.  The project is funded by Parks Public Facility Fees and a grant of Regional State Highway Account Funds from the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments.
