The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works announces the completion of the Underground Utility District No. 28 – Los Osos Valley Road Project. The Ribbon Cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the Los Osos Oaks State Reserve parking lot, east of the intersection of Los Osos Valley Road and Palomino Drive, in Los Osos.

Formation of the Underground Utility District, as established by the Board of Supervisors, enhanced the local scenic environment through the removal of above ground utility poles, wires, and associated overhead structures. A total of 28 poles have been removed as well as approximately six miles of communication and electrical lines were placed underground. Construction began in the summer of 2017 and was completed in May 2018.

All of the construction work was completed in phases by Pacific Gas & Electric, AT&T, and Charter Communications. Funding was provided by the utility companies in accordance with Tariff Rule 20A and Rule 32 programs for utility underground work established by the California Public Utility Commission.
