Nuclear Power Plant Emergency Planning Information

Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant

Diablo Canyon Power Plant, which is owned by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), has been generating nuclear power since 1985.  The plant currently provides electricity to more than 1.6 million homes through two 1,100 megawatt reactors.  The plant is located in Avila Beach and surrounded by approximately 12,000 acres that are managed by PG&E.

The Early Warning System sirens are tested annually. The 2012 annual siren test will be conducted on Saturday, August 25. Quarterly siren low-power, growl tests will be conducted on the following dates: January 10 and 11, April 3 and 4, July 24 and 25 and October 2 and 3.
