The San Luis Obispo County Probation Department’s Revenue Recovery Unit is in charge of enforcing the orders of the Courts through the collection of restitution and fines. The Probation Revenue Recovery unit has a total of 13,040 open cases at this time. It is vital and necessary to uphold the orders of the court and make the individuals who have committed crimes financially accountable in terms of fines, fees, and restitution and, to reimburse the County for expenses incurred as a result of criminal activity.
It is the intention of the Court that victims be made whole for any losses incurred. Representatives of the Revenue Recovery Unit can assist victims in submitting claims for restitution to be assigned to those defendants granted probation. In fiscal year 2005/2006 the Collections unit collected $2,856,475.84 in restitution, court fines and fees and probation fines and fees from offenders. A total of $788,176.03 in restitution was returned to victims. Click here to find out more information regarding the Revenue and Recovery Unit.
