Los Osos Wastewater Project

Mission Statement: To evaluate and develop a wastewater treatment system for Los Osos, in cooperation with the community water purveyors, to solve the Level III water resource shortage and groundwater pollution, in an environmentally sustainable and cost effective manner, while respecting community preferences and promoting participatory government, and addressing individual affordability challenges to the greatest extent possible.

Recent News and Events 

 

January 9, 2012: County staff is holding a series of Neighborhood Open House meetings in Los Osos to discuss street restoration and drainage improvements that can be done in conjunction with the Project. Notices have been mailed to all residents and property owner with the date of your neighborhood’s meeting. The meetings will be tailored to each neighborhood in order to discuss specific issues, but anyone is welcome to attend each meeting. All meetings will be held at Monarch Grove Elementary School from 6-7 pm on the following dates. 

December 13, 2011: Board of Supervisors agenda Item 30 for approval of an engineering services agreement with HDR Engineering, Inc., for construction management of the Project collection system contracts.  Watch the meeting and read the staff reportPowerpoint presentation.  

December 5, 2011: The State Water Board approved an interest rate reduction, to 2% annual interest for 30 years, on the approximately $70 million State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan for the Project.  Read the State Water Board staff report.

November 30, 2011: Project update letter submitted to State Water Board for December 5, 2011 hearing to consider reduced interest rates.  Read the letter.

November 15, 2011: Basis of Design Report for the collection system final design completed by CDM and accepted by County.  Read the report.

October 25, 2011: Board of Supervisors consent agenda Item A-8 for approval of six program participation agreements for the use of recycled water from the Project.  Read the staff report

October 4, 2011:  Board of Supervisors hearing Item C-1 to consider a Resolution of Necessity for acquisition of real property for the Project.  Read the staff report.
