ASCE San Luis Obispo Branch
The local ASCE San Luis Obispo Branch recognized the Nacimiento Water Project as the recipient of both the 2011 Outstanding Civil Engineering Project of the Year Award and the 2011 Outstanding Private Sector Civil Engineering Project Award at its June 16, 2011 meeting. Black & Veatch Corporation provided the engineering on the Project.

The Branch also recognized John R. Hollenbeck, P.E., Nacimiento Project Manager, as the 2011 Outstanding Civil Engineer in Government.

ASCE Los Angeles Section
The ASCE Los Angeles Section has further recognized the Nacimiento Water Project as the 2011 Outstanding Private Sector Civil Engineering Project Award, for its unique technical achievements, complexity, scope, and engineering features. The Section will also recognize the Nacimiento Project Manager, John R. Hollenbeck, P.E., as the 2011 Outstanding Civil Engineer in Government. These awards will be presented on October 8, 2011.
ASCE National Organization
The Nacimiento Water Project, the largest locally-funded project embarked on by San Luis Obispo County, is being recognized by ASCE as one of the five finalists for the 2012 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Award. Black & Veatch Corporation provided the engineering for the Project. Each year, ASCE recognizes an exemplary civil engineering project with the OCEA award - "this prestigious award honors the project that best illustrates superior civil engineering skills and represents a significant contribution to civil engineering progress and society" (ASCE website).
