What is a transportation permit?
A transportation permit is written permission to move an oversized load on roads within the County of San Luis Obispo's Jurisdiction. A permit may be granted to a private company or an individual. Permits are issued by the Traffic Division.
When is a transportation permit necessary?
A transportation permit is necessary whenever an oversize or over weight load will be transported on roads under the jurisdiction of the County of San Luis Obispo.
What is the purpose for obtaining a transportation permit?
A form describing the route of choice, axle number, and hauling equipment must be completed. In most cases this form can be faxed back to the County of San Luis Obispo for review. Depending on the type of transportation permit requested (annual or one time trip) the fee will need to be paid and the completed and signed permit either faxed or sent to the applicant.
