Welcome to the First District of San Luis Obispo County!

I'm Supervisor Frank Mecham and my Legislative Assistant is Vicki Shelby. Together, we will be the ones you most often work with when you have questions or concerns regarding issues in the First District.  We hope to provide you with a few facts about our District and give you some answers to some of the most frequently asked questions. In addition, we hope to provide you with the means to find the information you desire and try to keep you as current as possible about projects in District One. So, here are some simple facts about the District that you may find interesting or informative.

Geographic Statistics

San Luis Obispo County was created on February 18, 1850 along with 26 other counties. The County covers a total of 2,124,248 acres of land, with a population of approximately 269,300 residents. 

The First District boundaries extend from the Monterey County line to the north, to the Kern County line to the East, it includes the community of Templeton to the south and extends to the mountain range that includes Adelaide and York Mountain to the west. (Map)  The First District is about 651,000 acres, with a population of approximately 53,860 residents. There is one incorporated city in the district which is Paso Robles.
