Ocean Water Monitoring
Environmental Health Services takes ocean water samples at nineteen locations along the coast on a weekly basis. Samples are analyzed for three types of indicator bacteria, which at sufficient concentrations indicate the potential presence of microbes that may cause human illness. The results are compared to standards established by the State. If any of the State standards are not met, a Health Advisory is issued. The Children's Services Network collaborates with public and private agencies to coordinate a seamless system of care for the children of San Luis Obispo County. It provides information about child related issues of interest to the parents of children in the county.

The Adult Services Policy Council provides leadership to all agencies, programs, and consumer groups dealing with adults and seniors. The Council also provides leadership in the development of comprehensive community services for adults and seniors who utilize publicly funded health and human services.

The San Luis Obispo County Commission on Aging listens to the concerns of seniors and provides information about about resources for seniors. The Commission also advocates on senior issues to the County Board of Supervisors.

The Bridging Poverty Campaign aims to eliminate poverty in our community by staging Opportunity Conferences that will bring together the poor with volunteers who have the skills to advise and mentor them on the resources and steps needed to break out of poverty.
