Roads
Maintain 1300 miles of roadway, bikeways, culverts, bridges and traffic signs; increase traffic safety; and control right-of-way encroachments.
Special Districts
Administer and operate 45 Board governed special districts.
Development Services (Surveyor)
Provide surveyor and development related services to the public and other County offices as mandated by State law, and as required by the Board for orderly development within the County. Serve as staff to Planning Commission, and member of Subdivision Review Board. Provide transportation planning services.
Monumentation
Search, perpetuate and re-establish section corners and other subdivision corners.
Waste Management
Provide for all administrative, engineering and maintenance work necessary to carry out the post-closure mandates pertaining to the Los Osos Landfill. Work on programs and projects involving the implementation of AB 939, in conjunction with the Integrated Waste Management Authority. Facilitate and administer garbage hauling franchise agreements.
Operations Center
Provide water and sewer service to various County departments and other governmental agencies located in and around the County Operations Center at Camp San Luis Obispo.
Services to Special Districts
Provide fiscal, legal and engineering support to districts in the formation process; perform general utility and district planning; perform assessment apportionments, special studies and special projects directed by the Board; perform cable TV franchise administration..
Work for Outside Departments
Provide various public works type services, on a cost reimbursement basis, to other county departments, as required
