The County has Franchise Agreements with the two cable companies operating in the unincorporated areas of the County:

San Simeon Community Cable

The County is responsible for collecting franchise fees, and administering these franchises in compliance with the individual franchise agreements, County Code, as well as State and Federal law.

The following is a list of a few responsibilities with respect to Cable Franchise Administration:

1. Respond to and resolve customer complaints
2. Inform the public of changes in the law and customer rights
3. Monitor cable company compliances with the Franchise Agreements, County Code, State & Federal Law
4. Suggest and implement changes in ordinance and in future franchise agreements
5. Negotiate franchise renewals, transfers and sales
