What does the Adult Division of Probation take care of?

The Adult Division contributes to the protection and safety of the community by:

  • providing a variety of probation reports to the courts;
  • delivering essential services by monitoring offenders and providing them with the opportunity to maintain law abiding behavior;
  • enforcing the orders of the court;
  • supporting the rights of victims;
  • supervising both the formal and adult probationer and the post-release offender population and working with various partners to provide appropriate programming and services.

Adult probationers are offenders who have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor offense and granted formal probation, suspending the imposition of a custody sentence.  The post-release offenders are supervised in a specialized unit called the "Post-Release Community Supervision" unit or PRCS.  Post-release offenders include those released from a prison term in the County Jail into Mandatory Supervision.

There are six units within the Adult Division each under the lead of a Supervising Deputy Probation Officer.
