Welcome to Our Site

Welcome to the SLO County web site!

We have organized county information and services to be easier to find using terms that are more familiar to the public. This will be an ongoing effort. Our goal is to create a citizen-centric view of local government that helps you find the information you need easily and quickly.

To meet this goal, we have organized information and services using six perspectives, which you'll find as links in the main menu across the top of each page. These six perspectives are:

  1. Residents and Visitors
  2. Business
  3. Health and Well-Being
  4. Law and Justice
  5. Government
  6. Emergency

1. In Residents and Visitors you will find information about your local government, employment, elections and voting, property taxes and assessments, public records, regional parks, building permits, utilities and schools.

2. In Business there is information about building and construction permits; resource conservation and land use; business-related permits, licenses, and fees; fictitious business names and the County Code.

3. The Health and Well-Being perspective includes information from the Health Agency, including Drug and Alcohol (Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services), Mental Health Services, and Public Health Services. Social Services, such as CalWORKS, food stamp program, and Medi-Cal, are also included here.

4. In Law and Justice, you'll find the Bad Check Program and consumer protection information, court cases, Juvenile Hall, the Sheriff's community programs, and probation services.

5. Government is all about us: from department directories to the county budget, organization chart, and Board of Supervisors.

6. And finally, the Emergency perspective contains information from and links to a variety of emergency management agencies. These agencies offer information and kits for emergency planning and earthquake preparedness.

We hope you find the web site easy to use. We will continue to monitor and improve the helpfulness of the site, and we welcome any feedback you may have for us.
