What’s on the Ballot:
This election contains contests for partisan offices for Congress, State Senate, State Assembly and Party Central Committees. It also contains non-partisan contests for the 1 st , 3 rd and 5 th Supervisorial Districts and the City of Morro Bay (both councilmember and mayor). There are two state propositions and a measure for the City of Pismo Beach.
Who Votes on What?
Every voter will have the opportunity to vote on the State Propositions and, depending where they live, for the non-partisan contests and the local ballot measure.
The partisan contests are open only to those voters who are registered with one of the six qualified parties in California The qualified parties are: American Independent, Democratic, Green, Libertarian, Peace & Freedom and Republican. However, no candidates filed for partisan office for the American Independent, Green, Libertarian and Peace & Freedom parties. Since there are no partisan candidates for these parties, voters who are registered with one of these parties will only receive a Non-Partisan ballot.
If you are registered as a decline to state voter or with a party that is not qualified in California, (this is called being an Unaffiliated Voter) you have a choice of which ballot to vote. You can vote a Non-Partisan ballot, a Democratic Party ballot or a Republican Party Ballot. These are the only two parties that are allowing unaffiliated voters to vote in this primary.
If you wish to vote a party ballot other than the one with which you are registered you must re-register to vote by the May 19 th deadline for registration.
