If you cannot find the information you are looking for on this Web site, please give us a call: (805) 781-5544.

Services for Residents: These include services related to drinking water, swimming, food safety, mold and lead abatement, and waste management.

  • Drinking water: We investigate small public water system issues, regulate wells, and enforce state and local regulations.
  • Swimming/recreational bathing: We check water quality to ensure that all public recreational waters are free of potentially hazardous bacteria and chemicals or safety hazards. For more information, go to the SLO County Recreational Water Program website.
  • Food safety: We inspect restaurants and food-service business to make sure food is prepared in safe, hygienic, properly equipped and well-maintained facilities. For forms related to food safety, please go to the SLO County Environmental Health Forms  website.
  • Indoor mold abatement: We provide current information and reference material on mold in indoor environments. For more information, go to the SLO County Mold Abatement Information website.
  • Lead abatement: We work with local and statewide organizations to detect lead levels on properties, identifying risks and preventing releases into the environment.
  • Waste management: We issue permits to solid and liquid waste haulers and respond to liquid and solid waste complaints. To file a complaint, please contact us (805) 781-5544.
  • Basic Sewage Back-Up Cleanup Guidelines: This Step-by-Step guide to residential sewage back-up cleanup.  These guidelines will walk you through the safety first and property proceedures for outdoor and indoor clean up.  These guidelines end with proper disenfection of you, your clothing, and any equipement used in the cleanup stages.
