California Children’s Services (CCS)

CCS is a statewide program that treats children with medically eligible chronic health conditions, diseases and physical limitations. The goal of CCS is to identify children who may need specialized medical care and encourage and assist families with obtaining the necessary medical services. CCS coordinates and monitors medical services and can pay for specific medical treatment. The CCS program covers many serious medical conditions.

A child is eligible for CCS services when:

  • He or she is under 21 years old and
  • He or she has a CCS medically eligible condition and
  • The parents are permanent residents of San Luis Obispo County and 
  • The family’s (adjusted gross income on the previous year’s California Tax Form) was $40,000 or less; or when the estimated of out-of pocket expenditures for medical care for the child will exceed 20% of the family’s adjusted gross income  or
  • The child has health insurance coverage through California’s Healthy Families program and is referred to CCS for a medically eligible condition

Specific services available through CCS include:

  • Diagnostic Evaluations
  • Treatment Services
  • Medical Case Management
  • Medical Therapy Program Services for children with cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular conditions
