Teen Pregnancy and Parenting Programs

In collaboration with the Economic Opportunity Commission, the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department provides free community programs to prevent teenage pregnancy and support teen parents. To qualify, a pregnant teen must be 18 or younger, or a teen father, 19 or younger.

The Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) for eligible pregnant teens:

  • Meet basic food, clothing, and shelter needs
  • Obtain counseling services
  • Receive legal assistance or protection
  • Obtain reproductive and health care services
  • Learn more about being a parent
  • Make healthy choices for parent and child
  • Complete a high school education and/or job training
