In collaboration with the Economic Opportunity Commission, the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department provides free community programs to prevent teenage pregnancy and support teen parents. To qualify, a pregnant teen must be 18 or younger, or a teen father, 19 or younger.
The Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) for eligible pregnant teens:
- Meet basic food, clothing, and shelter needs
- Obtain counseling services
- Receive legal assistance or protection
- Obtain reproductive and health care services
- Learn more about being a parent
- Make healthy choices for parent and child
- Complete a high school education and/or job training
