Childhood Immunizations

 

Protecting your child from disease may be the most important thing you can do for his or her health. Immunizations (sometimes called shots or vaccines) will keep your child safe from 15 serious diseases.

 

                         Immunization Picture 1 Some Diseases are still around, such as polio, pertusis (whooping cough) and measles - like the outbreak of whooping cough throughout California in 2010. It is important for your child to get all the shots your doctor recommends on time.

  California law requires proof that a child is up-to-date before he/she can go to day care or school.

Cost: The SLO Health Department carries free vaccine for uninsured and underinsured children to eliminate any financial barriers.
