County Medical Services Program (CMSP)

CMSP closed on 12/31/13
This is good news because new and better healthcare coverage options are now available!

If you need assistance covering medical expenses:

Please call the San Luis Obispo office of the County Department of Social Services (DSS) at 805-781-1600. The SLO DSS office is located at 3433 South Higuera Street, near Prado Road. Office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Covered California is where you can apply or just get information about Medi-Cal or private insurance plans. Ask questions, research, and enroll online at www.CoveredCA.com.

The County's Medically Indigent Services Program (MISP) helps qualifying low-income residents pay for certain medical expenses. Learn more at MISP or call 805-781-4878.

If you need to contact the CMSP office about pending claims or applications:

Some CMSP staff are available to assist providers and clients with pending items. Please call 805-781-4838 to leave a message.

Providers may find more information in the Provider Bulletin issued on 12/31/13.

Why CMSP closed:

Individuals previously eligible for CMSP now qualify for full-scope medical coverage through Medi-Cal or through a discounted private insurance plan available from Covered California. This CMSP Guidebook explains what you need to know, how to get covered, and where you can get help with questions and enrollment.
