Paper Application Instructions
You may apply online from our Employment Opportunities page. You may also download an application (found at bottom of job announcements), or come into the Human Resources Department at 1055 Monterey St., Suite D-250, San Luis Obispo to pick up an application.
You may also request a San Luis Obispo County employment application be mailed to you by calling our Job Hotline at (805) 781-5958 or by e-mailing your request to hr@co.slo.ca.us.
We encourage you to apply online since it is more efficient and provides you with an electronic copy of your application which may be copied for future job openings.
Additional material (resumes, certificates, transcripts, etc) may be submitted with your application by filling out a document cover sheet and delivering the documents to the Human Resources office. Document cover sheets are also part of the application packet and can be downloaded from the bottom of any online job announcement. It is recommended that a cover sheet be used for each additional document.
We do not accept faxed materials.
Don't have access to a computer? Download a list of local organizations and businesses that provide Public Internet Access. You may also come to the Human Resources office and use a computer kiosk for submitting your application online.

Paper application must be on official forms and filed in the Human Resources Department no later than 5:00 pm on the final filing date. The online application must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on the final filing date. The education/experience standards listed must be met as of the filing date; however, possession of these requirements does not assure a place on the eligible list. The application is part of the examination process. Failure to meet all the requirements enumerated in the announcement by the final filing date is cause for rejection. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the application is on file in the Human Resources Department no later than 5:00 pm on the final filing date. The online application must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on the final filing date. Late applications will be rejected.
A reasonable effort will be made to accommodate the needs of the disabled and the religious needs of an applicant. If you require special arrangements to participate in the recruitment process, you must inform the County Human Resources Department in writing of the type and extent of accommodation no later than the final filing deadline. Information relating to the essential duties of a position are identified and used by medical examiners and hiring authorities in the selection process and are available upon request for review during a recruitment.
NOTE: New employees are required to complete an INS Employment Eligibility Verification form to certify citizenship or legal residence and authorization to work.
