Energy Efficiency Financing (Including PACE)

There are many options to choose from when considering financing your energy improvement. No one financing solution is best for all customers and projects. It is important to know the key differences to ensure your project is as cost efficient as possible.

emPower Program

The emPower Program offers attractive financing terms and is paired with the Energy Upgrade California rebate program. Both the loan and the rebate program are designed to make your project as accessible as possible. Featuring a fixed rate of 5.9% and no early payment penalties, rebates can be applied to the loan balance for further savings.

Contractors approved to work in the program are specially trained and certified to ensure the health and safety of your family are verified before and after your project is completed. Contractors who have not completed the training, certification, and vetting process will not be able to participate in the programs.

HELOC Loans are a revolving line of credit guaranteed by available home equity. There are a wide variety of lenders and rates. Costs vary are typically assessed by a barrowers credit rating.

Home Energy Loans by SESLOC

Home Energy Loans by SESLOC are energy efficiency loans which are unsecured (not tied to equity) loans that can be used while supporting a local lender.

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE)

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing allows property owners to make energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation improvements to their property and repay the costs over time on their property tax bills. A PACE provider will place an assessment on the property that is paid back to the lender through the County Tax Collector. As with any lender, PACE Providers are privately funded and have fees associated with their services.

A key component of PACE financing is that the improvements made to the property and repayment obligation are carried over to the new owner in the event of sale. It is important to note that there have been instances in which a lender has required that the assessment be paid prior to sale.
