Agricultural Ponds Interim Zoning/Urgency Ordinance No. 3326

On July 15, 2016, the Board of Supervisors adopted Urgency Ordinance No. 3326 to prohibit the approval of new agricultural ponds and reservoirs in the inland area (does not include the Coastal Zone) of the unincorporated County under the Alternative Review Program and establish application content and review criteria for agricultural ponds and reservoirs. On August 15, 2016, the Board of Supervisors extended the Urgency Ordinance to be effective until May 14, 2017.

The Department is currently preparing a permanent Agricultural Ponds Ordinance to be adopted before the Urgency Ordinance expires on May 14, 2017. At part of this process, the Department is conducting stakeholder outreach and plans to release a public review draft of the permanent ordinance in January 2017.
