Disclaimer: This information may be outdated. For the most recent guidance and case details, visit ReadySLO.org

While Property Taxes provide funding for vital services delivered to the public during this time by the County, Cities, Schools, and Special Districts, given current circumstances the Tax Collector is committed to working with taxpayers to ease the impacts of their tax obligations to the greatest extent permitted by law.

Under California law, the second installment of the 2019-20 property tax bill becomes delinquent if not paid on or before April 10th, 2020.  While State law does not currently allow changes to the deadline, or waiver when a taxpayer has the ability to pay, the Tax Collector intends to fully apply his authority to waive penalty and interest pursuant to California Revenue and Taxation Code section 4985.2 for any late payment determined to be due to reasonable cause or circumstances related to COVID-19.

Claims for waiver of penalty and interest must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.  Assistance with the claims process is available to taxpayers Monday through Friday, 8-5pm at (805) 781-5831 or by online request at [email protected]

The Tax Collector’s office encourages taxpayers to take advantage of the following payment alternatives:

  • On our website (https://services.slocountytax.org). Payments by electronic check are available with no processing fee (Routing number and account number required). Payments by credit and debit cards require a 2.39% processing fee, or;
  • Via postal mail at 1055 Monterey Street Room D-290, San Luis Obispo, CA 93408, or;
  • Over the telephone at (805) 781-5831. Electronic check (no fee) and credit and debit card payments (2.39% processing fee) are available.
