Public Integrity Unit Completes Review of Los Osos Community Services District Board Compensation

The District Attorney’s Office Public Integrity Unit has completed its review of a complaint alleging improper compensation received by some Los Osos Community Services District Board members. While concluding that no criminal conduct occurred, the District Attorney admonished directors to personally familiarize themselves with applicable law to avoid future violations and criminal prosecution.
Judge sentences man to 5 years prison for Smart & Final robbery

Today, Judge Hernaldo Baltodano sentenced Dennis Chapman Wheeler (30) of San Luis Obispo to serve five years in state prison for his conviction for robbery after a recent jury trial. He has served time in prison on two prior occasions.
Man sentenced to serve life in prison without possibility of parole

This morning a Judge sentenced Levente Laszlo Lazar (27) to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering his mother, Athena Valentiny (64), in her Grover Beach home on October 24, 2018. A San Luis Obispo County Jury earlier found Lazar guilty of premeditated murder for the purposes of financial gain.
Sex Offender Sentenced to 25-to-life for Child Porn Possession

38 year old Joshua Steven Jackson was sentenced today under California's Three Strikes law to 25 years-to-life in state prison. In August 2019, Jackson pled no contest to two counts of possession of over 600 images of child pornography. He had previously been convicted for three prior sex offenses including: continuous sexual abuse of a child, and two counts of lewd acts with a child.
Jury finds Grover Beach man guilty of Felony Domestic Violence

After deliberating less than two hours, a San Luis Obispo County jury on Thursday found Michael Anthony Guzman guilty of felony domestic violence causing traumatic injury, misdemeanor child abuse, and resisting a peace officer. The crimes occurred on April 30, 2019 in Grover Beach at an apartment residence. The defendant remains in custody and will return to Court on December 17th.
Jury finds former Lyft driver guilty of felony sexual assault crimes

After a three-week jury trial, a San Luis Obispo County jury found Jason Lamont Fenwick guilty of assault with the intent to commit sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of surreptitious photographing. The defendant was a Lyft driver who committed these crimes against a female passenger after driving her to her Nipomo residence shortly after 1:30 am on November 4, 2018.
Judge finds sufficient evidence for Paso Robles murder to be tried

After a preliminary hearing, San Luis Obispo County Superior Court Judge Craig van Rooyen held that there is sufficient evidence for Kejuan Guy Bynum to be tried for the murder of Cristopher Vento Wilson (23) that occurred in Shandon during the early evening of June 1, 2019.
