Joshua Myers (19) was sentenced today by San Luis Obispo Superior Court Judge Matthew Guerrero to a term of 13 years 8 months in state prison.

On December 11, 2017, Joshua Myers, a resident of Santa Barbara County and admitted gang member committed an armed robbery in the parking lot of the San Luis Obispo Costco.  He robbed two victims who worked for a mobile marijuana dispensary of approximately one pound of marijuana valued at $2,500.

On November 15, 2018, Joshua Myers was found guilty by a jury of robbery, personal use of a firearm by a gang member during a robbery and making criminal threats.  His maximum exposure was 16 years 4 months.

“I am grateful for the hard work and diligence of the jury for their verdicts and for the bravery and fortitude of the victims and witnesses who testified at trial.  This verdict sends a strong message to gang members who commit violent crimes while armed with a firearm that they will be held accountable for their actions,” said Deputy District Attorney Lindsey Bittner who prosecuted the case.

The case was investigated by the San Luis Obispo Police Department along with assistance by the Santa Maria Police Department.  Joshua Myers has a pending robbery case with a gang enhancement in Santa Maria.
