Division Manager Delivers 19 Years of Quality Service

Greg Vickery, LMFT and Quality Support Division Manager retired from the county on January 24th 2020.
The Behavioral Health Department is honored to celebrate Greg Vickery and his commitment to delivering outstanding service to the community. Vickery joined the Behavioral Health Department in 2001, working as a Mental Health Therapist and Program Supervisor for Managed Care before becoming the Quality Services Division Manager in 2013.
Greg is known for taking complex data and making meaning of it in order to move programs forward and improve client services. He has been a valued leader within the department serving as a mentor to many. “Greg teaches and shared his knowledge to bring up the next generation to do this work,” says Behavioral Health Supervisor Amanda Getten.
Greg’s remarkable work as Quality Support Division Manager enabled the department to transition into a new Medi-Cal system, allowing the expansion of Drug and Alcohol programs. His expertise in quality improvement has been fundamental to the progress of the department as he oversaw ongoing state performance contracts, interpreted and trained staff on changing state and federal regulations, and developed new reporting processes. Greg’s work has enabled the Department to achieve compliance scores in the 90th percentile during dozens of state and compliance reviews and audits.
“We have been so lucky to have Greg lead our Quality Services Division for the past 7 years," says Behavioral Health Director Anne Robin. "He has the uncommon ability to interpret complex and sometimes conflicting regulations and mandates and provide guidance to our leadership group as well as our staff and contractors. His contribution to our Department and to the behavioral health community cannot be understated. He is a true deep thinker, professional, and kind. We will miss Greg very much.”
Behavioral Health Board members honored Greg at their January meeting. Board member Mary Bianchi shared that, “Greg is a shining example of the great resources we offer to the county. His work has reached generations.” Many stated they could not imagine the department without Greg, nor Greg without the department.
Thank you Greg for your tenacity, commitment and responsibility you have shown to better our services and the community. We wish you a wonderful retirement full of relaxation and lots of golf!
