The San Luis Obispo County Friday Night Live (FNL) Partnership is excited to announce the return of it’s annual Reindeer Run, this Saturday, December 11, 2021.

The Reindeer Run will take place at Mitchell Park in San Luis Obispo from 9:00am-11:30am and includes a celebratory breakfast for those who attend. The fun run 5k race is open to all members and ages of the community.

Participants, volunteers, and spectators are all encouraged to dress in their favorite holiday attire. This year runners may enjoy music while they run through downtown San Luis Obispo by tuning into a special Reindeer Run Playlist on Spotify.

“Reindeer Run is special, not just because of how festive it is, but because it brings people from all over the county together to support youth.” says Megan Frauenheim, SLO County’s Friday Night Live Coordinator. “Friday Night Live programs offer youth a safe place to talk about mental health, drug and alcohol safety and the hardships they are going through; and there have been so many hardships over the last two years. This run shows youth we care about them and that we are always here to support them through difficult times.”

Online registration for the Reindeer Run is $25 per person. Day of registration is available for $30. All registrations include a commemorative Reindeer Run t-shirt and meal ticket to enjoy the post-run breakfast. Spectators and volunteers may also enjoy the breakfast for $5 per person. Those interested in volunteering at the run may register through an online form by December 10. Volunteer duties include event set-up, take-down, course guidance, food support and more.

All proceeds from the event go to San Luis Obispo County Friday Night Live, California's leading youth development and substance abuse prevention program. The program engages youth in schools and encourages them to be active leaders and resources in their communities to help promote wellness and healthy lifestyles. Friday Night Live currently has local chapters at thirteen middle schools, nine high schools, and one at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
