Mental Health First Aid
What is this service?
Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.
Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, Mental Health First Aid is now being offered virtually. Please see information in the image below for more details.
San Luis Obispo County Office of Education and County of SLO Behavioral Health Department are sponsoring 6 free trainings from February 2021-April 2021 to help support our community. Three Adult Mental Health trainings and three Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings are being facilitated at no cost to the participant.
Please see links below under the reference section to register. Note that two hours of pre-work is required of the participant to complete before the respective training date.
