Opioid Safety Coalition
What is this service?
The County formed the SLO Opioid Safety Coalition in January 2016 to address the local epidemic of opioid (painkiller medication and heroin) misuse with grant funding from the California HealthCare Foundation. The Department received one of 12 grants from the California HealthCare Foundation to help address the opioid epidemic locally.
The SLO Opioid Safety Coalition is organized into five action teams, representing community members and professionals from a wide array of sectors.Action Teams were developed in the areas of:
·Safe Prescribing & Health Care
·Data & Outcome Monitoring
·Community Prevention & First Responders
·Medication Assisted Treatment
·Naloxone: Overdose Antidote
