Trainings, Meetings, and Events Announcement
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the cancellation or postponement of all events and gatherings of 50 or more people over the next eight weeks. As a result, Behavioral Health is postponing all in-person trainings and events. Thank you for your understanding at this time!
The Veteran’s Outreach Program provides increased outreach and access to mental health services for veterans, by providing rehabilitative activities and counseling services. The County hosts various physical, rehabilitative activities for veterans and their families throughout the year in various locations. Events are open to all veterans or active military members in San Luis Obispo County. Family members or guests of veterans or active military members may accompany when appropriate.
Please see the calendar below for upcoming events. You may click on an event to see view details such as the event flyer and registration.
These activities, including hiking, kayaking, and horseback riding, are safe, culturally appropriate, prosocial opportunities for the Department's Veterans Services Therapist to engage veterans – who are unlikely to seek mental health care through clinic settings.
The Veterans Outreach Program is part of the Mental Health Services Act plan, and provided by the Behavioral Health Department. For more information on Veterans services and benefits, please visit the County's Veterans Services Office page.
