What's New at WIC?

Starting October 1st, canned beans are available to WIC families with their benefits!

With your WIC benefits, you can choose:

− 4 cans of cooked beans,

− 1 package of dry beans, or

− 1 jar of peanut butter.

Keep canned beans on the shelf for a quick weeknight meal. Add canned beans to soups, salads, burritos, tortilla wraps, stews, rice bowls, and more. Find tasty recipes using canned beans and other WIC foods at Health eKitchen.

Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables helps us stay healthy and boost our immune system. 

During October, November and December, WIC families will see a new increase to their monthly WIC Fruits and Vegetables Benefit! 

The new dollar amounts are: 

  • $24 for children age 1 to 5
  • $43 for pregnant and postpartum individuals
  • $47 for breastfeeding individuals

Families can use increased benefits at WIC-approved grocery stores. For more information on the new benefit increase, visit myfamily.wic.ca.gov or contact your local WIC office or text (888) 417-6180


CageFreeEggs-EN1.pngFrom September through December 2021, WIC families can get both non-cage free and cage-free eggs with their WIC benefits. 

Starting January 2022, cage-free eggs will be the only type of eggs allowed with WIC benefits.
