Comprehensive perinatal services are provided by physicians in the areas of obstetric, psychosocial, nutrition and health education services, and related case coordination.
 
This includes initial assessment, trimester reassessments, post-partum assessment, interventions and follow-up services in:

• Prenatal care and individual case coordination
• Education on eating healthy
• Prenatal vitamins
• Childbirth education
• Help with social or emotional problems
• Help with breastfeeding and newborn care
• Referrals to Woman, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program, genetic screening, dental care, family planning and pediatric care

Services must be provided by or under the personal supervision of a physician during pregnancy and sixty (60) days following delivery.

Any of the following can be as a CPSP practitioner:
 

• General Practice Physician
• Family Practice Physician
• Pediatrician
• Obstetrician-gynecologist
• Certified Nurse Midwife
• Registered Nurse
• Nurse Practitioner
• Physician’s Assistant
• Social Worker
• Health Educator
• Childbirth Educator
• Dietician
• Comprehensive Perinatal Health Worker

• A group, any preferred provider organization whose members are
  one of the above-named physicians
• Any other clinic holding a valid Medi-Cal provider number, approved
  by the Department  to provide comprehensive perinatal services
• Organized outpatient clinic
