2024 Summer Childcare
This page provides information the Summer Childcare program available through the County.
The County’s Summer Childcare Reimbursement Program will begin accepting applications for 2024, starting April 1, 2024!
The Summer Childcare Reimbursement Program is designed to assist County employees with some of the costs of summer childcare expenses for school aged children. Under this reimbursement program, you pick the summer childcare arrangement, enroll your child in the program and pay for the cost. You then submit an original receipt for your predetermined reimbursement. View the Guidelines under "Related Pages" below, or click here.
Who is Eligible to Apply for this Benefit?
Permanent Employees working 20 or more hours per week in the following bargaining units are eligible to apply for this program:
- BU 01: Public Services
- BU 02: Traders, Crafts & Services Unit
- BU 05: Supervisory Unit
- BU 11: Confidential
- BU 13: Clerical Unit
Program Details
This program provides reimbursement for some of the cost of childcare for children up to the age of 14 that have not yet started high school.
- Applications will be accepted from April 1, 2024 through June 30, 2024
- Reimbursement period is June 1, 2024 - August 31, 2024
- If funds remain, the reimbursement period may be extended on a month-by-month basis beyond August 2024, but not to exceed December 31, 2024.
Families with 2023 gross earnings below $130,000 are eligible to apply for the reimbursement program. A copy of your 2023 Federal Tax Return will be requested.
Please be advised that childcare reimbursements, along with any other employer provided dependent care assistance are reportable to the IRS. Any childcare reimbursements issued by SLOCEA totaling $600 or more will generate a Federal Tax Form 1099 reportable to the IRS.
How to Apply
SLOCEA administers this program for all applicants. Applications are available here. A completed application form and your 2023 Federal Tax Return must be submitted to SLOCEA by June 30, 2024. Once your application has been approved, you can submit the 2024 claim form for reimbursement.
