County OES challenges residents to take the steps towards preparedness by following this 20-week plan.
Putting together an emergency supply kit for you and your family can seem overwhelming. Provide for one gallon of water per person, per day; have a three-day supply of food; remember to plan for your pets. You understand the need for a kit, but you may wonder where or how you start.
On June 2, the County Office of Emergency Services (County OES) launched a 20-week social media campaign to help you become better prepared for a local disaster or emergency. Every Sunday through October 13, visit the County OES Facebook and Twitter pages to find the latest 20 Weeks to Prep post..
Each week, County OES will post a list of disaster supplies to gather, along with tasks to complete for that week. The goal is to provide you with a step-by-step plan to build an emergency kit that will be much needed during a disaster.
As we go through each week, use the hashtag #SLO20W2P to share your progress with others, letting your friends, family and neighbors know you’re taking the “20 Weeks to Prep” challenge.
