Notice of Change in Public Facilities Fees for New Construction

Adjusted fees will take effect January 4, 2020.


Public Facilities Fees are collected on new construction projects to ensure that public services continue to be provided to County residents as our population grows and changes. The program includes the Public Facilities Financing Plan (PFFP), which identifies needed capital improvements to accommodate future generations.

As part of a year-long program review and update, the Board approved specific changes to the Public Facilities Fees. The date of the public hearing was November 5, 2019 and the changes will be effective on January 4, 2020.

As of January 4, 2020, the Public Facilities Fees on new construction will be as follows:

Affordable housing units meeting the definition of extremely low-income, very low-income and lower-income as set forth in Land Use Ordinance Section 22.12.070 and Coastal Zone Land Use Ordinance Section 23.04.094 are exempt from the payment of public facilities fees.
