Small to Medium Business Energy Efficiency
What is this service?
The County of San Luis Obispo’s Energy Watch Partnership (SLOEW) helps small to medium businesses reduce energy cost, use, and demand, and decrease greenhouse gas emissions through its Direct Install Program. SLOEW provides businesses with an end-to-end service including a free assessment, cost-effective recommendations, installation, and coordination of rebates. The rebates offered through this program will cover a larger share of a customer's project cost than what is offered through any other program or service.
Who can use this service?
Small to medium businesses can use this service, including but not limited to:
- Gas stations;
- Convenience stores
- Liquor stores;
- Grocery stores
- Refrigerated warehouses; and
- Retail stores.
Is there a charge for this service?
There are no fees for the initial assessment or reporting services. However, project implementation (equipment purchases and installation) as a result of this service will require capital outlay.
What is the process?
Step 1: Call the SLO Energy Watch Partnership
Customers may contact SLOEW at (805) 781-5623 to discuss energy needs and eligibility, and learn about the services offered through the Direct Install program. SLOEW sends qualified leads to Staples Energy, our installation contractor.
Step 2: Schedule and Perform Energy Efficiency Audit
Staples Energy contacts customers directly to schedule a free energy audit. Once the audit has been performed, the customer will be provided an audit report identifying energy efficiency measures, potential energy bill savings, and the total cost of installation, reflecting significant PG&E rebates and incentives.
Step 3: Funding and Financing Options
In addition to receiving PG&E rebates and incentives, many customers are eligible for PG&E’s 0% interest On-Bill Financing program. Nonprofit customers may also be eligible for additional limited-term grant funding to help cover a portion of the customer copay. Please contact SLOEW at (805) 781-5623 for more information.
Step 4: Install Upgrades
Customers interested in installing energy efficiency measures work with Staples Energy to schedule the installation.
