Codes and Ordinances
Every three years, the State of California adopts new building codes (known collectively as the California Building Standards Code) to establish uniform standards for the construction and maintenance of buildings, electrical systems, plumbing systems, mechanical systems, and fire and life safety systems. Currently, the 2022 Building Code Updates are in effect.
The unincorporated County of San Luis Obispo also maintains Land Use and Subdivision Ordinances, along with Community & Village Plans where you can find additional information about specific communities.
