Envision Avila is the work program and community workshop series created to inform and develop a new comprehensive Community Plan in Avila. Community Plans are an integral part of the San Luis Obispo County’s General Plan. Community Plans manage land uses and guide land use decisions until 2050. The Avila Community Plan will specifically focus on the region within the Avila Urban Reserve Line (URL).

Guidelines for Submitting Comments
When submitting comments, please take care to reference specific page numbers, figures, and tables so that County staff can respond appropriately.
The Draft Avila Community Plan is a complex planning document. In order for your questions and comments to be most impactful, we recommend the following:
- For each comment, identify the specific page and section you are referring to. If necessary, quote whole sentences and paragraphs. This makes it easier for staff to identify which part of the document needs to be addressed.
- If you wish to see sections of the text revised or corrected, please provide suggested replacement text, and a reason for why you are suggesting the change. Comments that say "revise text" or "text not clear" without suggested replacement text may be difficult for staff to interpret.
- Indicate whether your question or comment is global or specific. For example, if you see a name misspelled in the same manner multiple times across the whole document, you might comment that a global revision is necessary.
- Be concise and constructive, and support your claims with data as much as possible. Consider different trade-offs and opposing views in addition to your own.

Background
The comprehensive Avila Community Plan update was funded and authorized by the County of San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors on June 13, 2016. The Avila Community Plan update was authorized by the Board of Supervisors to address growing community concern related to traffic congestion, safety issues, and future land use patterns.
