"A Small Act of Kindness" Toy Donation Program

The San Luis Obispo County Probation Department comes together to keep the spirt of giving going beyond the holiday season.

 The San Luis Obispo County Probation Department comes together to keep the spirt of giving going beyond the holiday season. New and gently used toys were donated from within the department in order to have toys on hand for individuals who are on probation. During office visits, probation officers sometimes find that probationers are in need of clothing for job interviews or have recently been released from custody with almost nothing to call their own. So officers have been handing out clothing, hygiene bags and even bags filled with nonperishable food. Now with the addition of toys, officers will be able to offer probationers a toy to take home to their child or to ease a child’s anxiety when accompanying their parent during an appointment at Probation.  Our hope is that this small act of kindness will help in reinforcing positive behavior and continue to build rapport amongst officers and the persons they supervise.
