Arroyo Grande Subbasin GSP Public Workshop #1
Dec. 15, 2020 • 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Virtual via Zoom Meetings
In this virtual workshop, attendees helped create a shared set of guiding principles for what a “sustainable Arroyo Grande Subbasin” means. To inform the interactive exercise, the project team described the purpose of the Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP), including how it will support and integrate with other initiatives like the Watershed Management Plan and Habitat Conservation Plan. The team also described some basics of groundwater and the requirements of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) in easy-to-understand terms. Next, they provided an overview of the Basin Setting including the Basin’s unique geological makeup, potential challenges associated with groundwater management, and anticipated future groundwater use. Stakeholders input documented in the workshop activity will be used to create a set of guiding principles that will inform the remaining GSP decisions.
