In this virtual workshop (offered via Zoom Meetings), stakeholder perceptions will be collected to inform the preliminary sustainability goals for the SLO Basin. The project team will begin by describing the representative wells and monitoring network that have been recommended by the Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA), as well as a recap of the stakeholder input provided in workshop #2: Groundwater Management Vision. In the last half of the workshop, participants will break into group activities to experience the complexity of what goes into setting a sustainable groundwater goal, as well as setting minimum thresholds and measurable objectives. Following the workshop, the video recording and the workshop slides will be published to this website.

In this virtual workshop, stakeholders will have the opportunity to review the draft basin wide sustainability goal and corresponding monitoring network for the SLO Basin, developed from earlier stakeholder and GSC input. Participants will be engaged in discussions to further refine the sustainability goal and monitoring network. Input gathered within this workshop will help ensure that the goals outlined in the GSP align to the values and needs of Basin stakeholders while still meeting the requirements of SMGA.

SLO Basin GSP Public Workshop / Webinar #2: Groundwater Management Vision
In this virtual workshop, attendees will participate in an interactive exercise to set the vision for what a “sustainable SLO Basin” means. To inform the exercise, the project team will ground attendees in the key takeaways of the Basin Setting work completed to date, which helps predict future groundwater demand and describes the unique makeup and challenges associated with groundwater management in the SLO Basin. They’ll also describe the role of the Water Budget and the Surface/Groundwater Model in meeting the requirements of SGMA. A recording of the workshop will be published the project website within one day of the live session.
