Goal: Reconfigure the interchange to provide traffic congestion relief while accommodating pedestrians and bicycles.

Phase 1 - Project Initiation and Scoping

A Project Study Report was prepared by Caltrans to analyze various project alternative. Three project alternatives and a "no-build" alternative were determined viable options to carry forward for evaluation in Phase 2. The goal of this phase is to identify the project alternatives to be evaluated further in Phase 2. Funding for this stage consists of $250,000 from County Road Improvement Fees and $250,000 from San Luis Obispo Council of Government's Regional State Highway Account (RSHA) funds.

Estimated Date of Completion: July 2019

Phase 2 - Project Approval and Environmental Document

The goal of this phase is to evaluate the alternatives and obtain Caltrans approval. Funding for this stage consists of $750,000 from County Road Improvement Fees.

Estimated Date of Completion: 2025

Phase 3 - Design

The goal of this phase is to finalize the design. Funding is to be determined.

Estimated Date of Completion: 2027

Phase 4 - Construction

If funding is available and previous phases are completed on time, the earliest this project is anticipated to be in construction is in 2025. Funding is to be determined.
